Long-distance move from Idaho Falls, ID to Apache Junction, AZ

SCAM company

I agree, DO NOT use this company. They didn't deliver all of my stuff either--half of my recliner, appliance dolly, several totes and boxes;several items damaged(handle on refridgerator broken off, stainless steal trash can bashed in, and more. They don't think they should be held responsible for replacement and damage.

Too many damage and missing items!

Well, Do Not Use Them!! I used them because their quote was around  $2000 and it ws lowest I checked. But when they came to pick up, they told me $4000! Since I had to move out on the day, I had to agree. When they delivered, they tried to charge more since they count gap of the door was one step. So I had to move all the items by my self! After that, I found broken fanitures, broken dishes, broken printer and so many lost items. I tried to claim but they didn't care and did nothing. Now I have to buy all of them again. I really regret that I had used them, I should have used Pod or U Haul even though they were more expensive.

Long-distance move from Washington to Oregon

Quick and painless.

I recently moved to Portland and used Northwest Relocation. I was quoted 1500 for the move and that is what the final price was. I was happy that I didn't get charged any extra fees like some companies have done to me before. They said they would be at my home to pick up at 9am and they were. The movers did all the lifting and were polite and professional. They told me it would be two days til delivery and that they would be at my new place at 11am. They arrived when they said they would, and unloaded everything themselves. I am very happy I used Northwest Relocation, they did a fantastic job.

Long-distance move from Eugene, OR to California, MD

Poor communication. Damaged belongings.

The movers were kind. that's about all I can say for this company.

Our belongings were not handled with care. The boxes marked "electronics" and the box with my jewelry box in it were both opened and rifled through. I had an expensive audio receiver that I marked as "Sonya's Accessories" that was not touched at all. The Xbox360 was OUTSIDE of the shipping box, floating free in the truck.

GTS Shipping lost much of the hardware for the bunk beds and part of the hardware for the futon. The delivery company refused to set up the bunk beds because it was "custom furniture," so we found out about the missing hardware the next day when we assembled things ourselves. I had to order replacement parts online.

Additionally, some of our belongings were damaged. The shippers mangled the fenders on my daughter's antique bicycle and the supports for a storage shelf. One of our tables was no longer wrapped in blankets (it was wrapped initially on packing) and has several new scratches on the wood surface. Two sentimental mugs that were wrapped in bubble wrap were broken. Our freezer is now cycling constantly. Our current total for repairs and replacement is about $350.

Finally, the delivery driver tried to give me many items that didn't belong to me. I actually don't own a vacuum, so I know it was not mine -- but that means that someone else who used this company is missing a vacuum, some wrapping paper, cushions for their couch, and garden tools.

For $8000 I expected better.

Storage and Delivery.

I repeatedly had trouble reaching anyone at the warehouse to determine when my furniture would be delivered. It was coming from Oregon where it was stored to Florida. They delivered on the 21st day, the last day of their 5-21 business day window. Although our furniture was wrapped with blankets before going into storage, There was damage to 3 of our furniture pieces, plus somehow broke our Shark vaccum. To top it off they did not hook up our adjustable bed correctly and left with our dolly which we have yet to be returned after 3 requests to return it. We would NEVER use this company again. Save yourself frustration and do not use them. We contracted with International Moving Vanlines who had a 5 star rating. What we were not told and learned the hard way, our furniture was actually being handled by GTS Shipping. International Moving had little to nothing with the actual move other than quoting us a price. I would not use Interntional again either. I moved across country twice, once with Mayflower and once with United Van Lines. I never had any problems with them or damage to my furniture. After reading the other reviews I save myself further frustion and did not file a claim.

A horrible experience from Northwest who used GTS Shipping.

I have found that Brokers are scammers. You do not need them at all. They used NW Relocation who use GTS Shipping. They keep charging more each time they talk to you. They came and seemed to be careful about covering and moving items into the truck. They did not deliver until the 21st day. The broker said they would be able to deliver the first week of July but then I found out that your first choice to deliver is the day they start counting and they have up to 21 days. We were without furniture for 3 weeks. It was horrible. Then when I received the items, my coffee tables, a desk, a chair, bedroom furniture, book shelf and file cabinets had cracks, dents, totally apart, scratched, etc. They must have shoved them in the storage area and the truck. I filed the complaint as directed but I do not have much hope in getting reimburse. Other companies that I have used never did this and if any piece was bad they reimbursed us fully. I can't understand how these people remain in business.

Do not use this moving company

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but our experience with NW Relocation/GTS Shipping was so horrendously frustrating that I felt compelled to share and hopefully spare you the headache. We moved from Seattle to Chicago. Our belongings arrived over 6 weeks after they were initially loaded into the truck. This was in complete violation of the contract both parties signed, guaranteeing delivery within 30 days. Searching for answers, we contacted customer service numerous times and they were unresponsive, unreliable and quite frankly, completely unhelpful. Consider yourself lucky if they pick up your phone call (during normal business hours), return a voicemail or email. For weeks they were unable to tell us the location of the truck, how many deliveries still needed to be completed before us, and when we could expect our belongings. Completely unacceptable for a company you’re paying thousands of dollars to ship and track your belongings. Additionally, when we finally did receive our belongings, we discovered two large stains on our sofa as a result of negligence within the moving process. Do yourself a favor and find yourself another moving company. I would never recommend NW Relocation/GTS Shipping to anyone looking for a mover.

Long-distance move from Puyallup, WA to Katy, TX

Horrible movers

My move was assigned to this company via broker that did not inform me in advance of who would be taking my household goods from left Puyallup, WA 2/2 to Katy, TX . The cost of my move went up by $1500. They lied about how long it would take to get to me. I expected my item 2/9, and they did not arrive until 3/11. The customer service reps provide you with no information, sometimes they answer their phones, the voice-mail isn't on and they never return phone calls.

My items sat in Oregon for 2+ weeks before they even got on the road. Then my items sat in Texas for 2+ weeks before they got to me. When I did get my items, I discovered that two area rugs were missing, all of my family photos, a TV stand, they stoled laundry detergent and fabric softener. My 55inch TV is broke and pictures were broken.

I would recommend doing your research before you hire anyone. I was unable to do that because I was not told in advance that they were coming to get my stuff . I would have canceled. I do research and would have definitely passed on them and rented a Uhaul. They should absolutely be out of business. They operate under different names and their are multiple pages of complaints about them on Facebook.

Stay away from these people at any cost.

Long distance move from WA to FL

I hired NW relocation for my move from Washington State to Florida. It took them 2 months and 2 weeks to delivery my household goods. I moved into an apartment temporarily so the the majority of my goods had to be moved into storage my storage unit in FL. The movers never took off the moving blankets from my furniture so it wasn't until I moved into my home 8 1/2 months later that I was able to see all of the damage. Several of my boxes were literally crushed, my headboards (king and queen) were damaged (1 beyond fixable), lamps were broken, and a few things never arrived, my vacuum had to have been dropped because there were internal broken pieces and it would not work. I submitted a claim for damage but because it was postmarked 1 day beyond their 9 month cut-off they denied my claim for damages. I hope to never move again, but if I do, I will never use this company nor would I recommend their services. If I could give anything less than 1 star, I would.

WIthout a doubt! DO NOT BE A FOOL!

I am embarrassed to have to write this. I am. I am normally good about doing my due diligence but I was moving too fast. I trusted a "broker" and hence here I am with the rest having to write to this review to do my human responsibility to others to warn you about this scam/shady "company" as I say "company" sarcastically. They are a scam. You will lose your expensive items, have no contact with them after the fact, and will basically have to eat your losses. They are scam and why they are allowed to stay in business is any of our guesses. What a shame. You will be forced to buy all new things. You will be out of pocket for the amount these scam artists charge you and then for new items. DO NOT DO THIS! As if your FATHER were talking. *DO NOT USE THIS NORTHWEST RELOCATION** DO NOT DO IT!!

This Company should be out of business

The movers for this worthless company arrived today….and almost everything that could be broken was broken. Riedel wine glasses, vases, candle glass, a marble tissue dispenser, a pedestal lamp. The Éthan Allan book case had a huge dent in the front, a Crate and Barrel wine rack had the finish rubbed off because of poor packing. You provide insurance at $.60 per pound. Worthless when it comes to delicate items.

Almost every single box was crushed. Heavy boxes stacked on light ones marked fragile.

The drivers propped the mattress and box spring up against the building with the protective plastic cover open on top of the dirt and mud of a flower garden. Morons!

I would not send a pile of dog crap with you or your garbage company ever again.

Can I rate a company less than 1 star

We signed a contract with A On Time Movers they sub contracted for delivery with NW Relocation. We requested a three day notice so the facility where my 96 year old mother lives could relocate the loaned furniture she had to get because A On Time was so late in delivering her furniture. Instead they called late on a Saturday and demanded they be paid $2200 in cash or no delivery! They showed up at 6:30 AM after promising 12:00 noon and would not deliver until they had the cash. Due to extremely resourceful daughter-in-law we got their money. So my 96 year old mother and 64 year old wife who has had 14 back surgeries asked this 6’8” man named Hans if he would slide the borrowed bed six feet so her bed could be set up as help from the facility would not be there until 9:00 AM. His response was it wasn’t his job!! Almost every thing they brought in was damaged furniture broken, filing cabinet unable to open, wardrobe box turned upside down, remote for the bed lost, mattress retention bar lost, boxes torn open. Run and never use this company I wouldn’t recommend them to move a broken dog crate. Rude to the point of insanity. Hans should be imprisoned for elder abuse everything was not his job and wouldn’t move a thing that he didn’t bring!!

Hoping to save someone else the heartbreak

THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am so incredibly disappointed. When I spoke with Jachin Drinkard at Safe Ship he assured me that we would have such a smooth moving experience. He said that our belongings would be picked up and put into a sealed container that would not be opened until they reached our destination. Not what happened, they outsourced our move to NW Relocation. We were relocating from Portland, OR to Austin, TX. We knew that this would be an expensive move but we wanted it to go smoothly so we decided to pay a moving company instead of renting a uhaul and moving it ourselves (HUGE MISTAKE). When our belongings showed up at our new home in Austin (3 weeks later, even though they told us it would be 8-10 days) everything looked like it had been thrown down a trash compactor. EVERY.SINGLE.BOX was smashed and ripped open. Not only did they break 2 out of 3 of our TVs, but they also broke multiple pieces of furniture. So when Jachin told me that it would stay in one container that was a LIE, it was moved from our home to a storage unit, to another truck, to another unit, to another truck, and then to our home.

Multiple items were stolen out of our boxes which is just so heartbreaking. We trusted this company with our belongings. We paid them over $15,000 to literally break everything we owned. Legal action to follow.

Stay away from this company and also call your home owners insurance and get insurance on the ACTUAL value of your items. Do not believe moving companies when they tell you they have insurance. They do not. Also, I have tried to get in contact with Tess at NW Relocation and have not gotten any response, it is disgusting!

Do not use

This move was an absolute nightmare! Many of our belongings were DESTROYED due to an angry mover. He literally dropped boxes off the truck, then dropped them again onto the ground in our garage and basement, which is just off the garage. The boxes were crushed and damaged. He refused to move anything upstairs to the main floor despite my contract including one flight of stairs. He didn’t assemble any furniture, which was also in our contract. At one point he sat down and stated to my husband that unless we could paid him more money he would not move anything upstairs to the main floor. When we finally agreed to pay, he said he would only move the 1/4 of our stuff that was still on the truck and not all the items already in the garage. Throughout the move, additional charges had been added bit by bit and we ended up paying an extra $5,000 over what we were originally quoted, only to not even have our items moved in accordance with our contract! Finally, our driver, Jamaal, who was angry that I had moved the drop off date to the next day so my husband could be home, (I was in another country) continuously insulted me to his co-worker loud enough for my husband to hear from another room. When I emailed and called the company about this, all they said was “we’ll use this as a training experience”!

Horrible company DONT USE.

Worst moving company ever. I have used many companies and this is by far the worst. First they charged me 300 dollars more than quoted. my stuff took much longer than they said it would to get here. Everytime I called they didn't seem to know where my stuff was or anything. FINALLY when my stuff did arrive to Arizona. My bed was wet, yellowed and smelled of mold, my clothes had been re box and some of which ruined, my bike was missing, many of my boxes broken, including very old bowls and things that can never be replaced. The owner is clearing lacking in customer service as is the whole company. I would not recommend them for anyone..in fact I hope this saves someone what I had to go through. It is so sad and stressful and they didn't care that they did all this. .

Long-distance move from Colorado to Massachusetts

Major issues.

Summary, this move cost way more than quoted, took longer than quoted,  was highly unprofessional, and they lost parts which I never heard back from their "customer service".  I am not happy with my experience, and will not recommend this service to anyone.  I sent this same email to their customer service got, I never heard back, and I am still missing items:They showed up 22 days after my pickup, more time than they estimated, and arrived on a Saturday.  It was not made clear to me that cash was the only form of payment that would be expected.  They basically black mailed me for my stuff and I was unable to get the money on Saturday, so they left.  The next day the driver called  me back and said he could redeliver in the next three hours, if I could get the necessary cash pulls a $575 "re-delivery fee".  This fee is ludicrous, and I thought for sure I was being black mailed.  Because the customer service lines were not open on the weekend, I could not confirm this outrageous amount of money, was the actual fine.  I was able to get the money out on Sunday using a money gram, $731.70 greater than my original estimate.  That is absurd! The movers had also disassemble my futon in the process, and left me to reassemble, however the nuts and bolts of it were not delivered.  All of the major pieces showed up, as reported on the inventory, but none of the hardware, nor was it on the inventory.  This futon cost me $500, and is not functional without these pieces. Finally, and this is maybe the least professional aspect of my moving experience.  When the guys came back on Sunday, they complained about me living on the third floor (even though I made clear, and paid more for that), had me help them inventory and unpackage all of my materials. And then THEY HIRED PEOPLE OFF THE STREET to aid them!!  They literally had all my stuff on the curb asking for people to help them.  I was worried someone was going to run off with my stuff.  They did end up hiring someone, to help which I suspected they just paid by cash.  This person clearly wasn't trained, could have damaged or stole my stuff.  This is not an acceptable business practice.Overall, this move cost way more than quoted, took longer than quoted, lost parts, was highly unprofessional and was possible extortion.  I am not happy with my experience, and will not recommend this service to anyone.

Bad memories.

My move with this company still makes me angry.  So many things went wrong with this move, there are too many to mention.  My items arrived broken, the delivery guy held my things hostage until I paid him in cash, then proceeded to hit on me and then left a rug on his truck and made me get up in the middle of the night to go get it.  Neal in the home office had no response to any of it.  Finally, my tool box with years of tool I've collected never made it on the truck.  I finally reached Neal who said he was trying to reach me (he was calling the wrong number) said he had my tool box.  I was so happy to hear this but I never received it.  He said he sent it by UPS, but didn't have a tracking number, or receipt of any kind.  I told him to track it by the credit card he used.  He said he paid cash and had no record of the transaction.  I never got my tool box, he lied and either kept the box, lost it  or gave it away.  I would never recommend this company to anyone.  They are unprofessional liars.

I would stay.. stay away from them.

They lost 14 of my boxes that had never been found. I have been dealing with them now for 3 1/2 years and I still have not received my lost boxes or the insurance money they said they would send to me.  When I received my things, most of my stuff was broken and ruined in some way.  I received junk! They broke my piano legs, tried to unscrew my wood headboard from my bed that created deep scratches in my expenice headboard. The parts that arrived from my new "U" shaped desk came torn apart and most of the parts did not arrived, so I had just wood parts when my dest arrived. They took apart my lamps and lost the screws and broke the glass lamp shades that I cannot replace.  My real plants and fake plants were stuffed together and as they stuffed my large fake plants in boxes, they broke off the branches making them worthless and looked bad.  Almost all of my things were broken when they arrived. My sofa came dirty and a big tare on the side of the arm of the material. I had a dozen one of a kind glasses that I had for 63 years arrived stacked inside each other broken. They said that I was insuranced. Wrong.. the company told me that all they would give me was $600. They pay per pound.  I never received it. I have called, Twice I sent notarized pictures of what they did and still nothing. They are not to be trusted. Those that had a good experience they were lucky. I was trying to be nice to the packers. They sent me out to get them something to eat. So I did! I told them not to touch anything in my office. I had $2000 in cash that was for my traveling money. When I returned, they tore apart my desk. and I do me tore it apart. They ripped the wood to where it was no good. All they had to do is unhitch the screws but they did not know how to do it so my desk was completely destroyed. They packed the $2000 dollars in some box and refused to look for my money. I told them that was what I needed for my traveling and they said it's too bad. It is packed.  This is just a glimps of this company.

So Far, a Bad Experience and Getting Worse.

I have posted this to Yelp and will aim to come back to update it as my issues - hopefully - are resolved.   The below was as of 5/20/2013.   If you are looking at booking a mover, I would think twice about NW Relocation.     Here is our current experience and we're in the middle (or hopefully the end of possibly receiving our things). 1- The initial quote we were given was significantly less than what the actual price was.  This was despite me requesting they add some buffer by going from more than 20 boxes to 30 or 40 in the estimate.  Despite this, our estimate increased by more than 30%.  I was fine with this and just needed my stuff to be delivered safely and securely.  2- They knew from the beginning the location (street address, zip code, city, etc.) of the final delivery.  I even told them a big Semi would NOT fit where the delivery location is and checked this on the contract.  Despite that, the man who took delivery of our things didn't blink, said your final cost would not change and now..guess what?  NW delivery refuses to deliver our things with us paying another $650 dollars. 3- Their customer service is horrible.  We cannot get anyone to call us back and only the driver is responding (by the way, the driver/delivery guy has been very good - he should run this business because he actually things and solves problems). I will log back in and update this again to update everyone on my experience here. I've also posted to their Facebook page and Twitter acct to see if ANYONE will call me back. Nothing so far.

https://www.facebook.com/northwestrelocationishorrid
Here is my experience this far:

Beginning on June 8th, the company picked up my belingings and promised 5-7 day delivery.  They charged me far beyond the agreed upon estimate, claiming that the piano was a grand piano rather than an upright (it is not) and charging me extra to pay with a debit card (although I had not been told of this charge in advance).  I figured things like this would happen, as movers are notorious for such sketchy practices, and went ahead and rolled with it.  That was the very best there service ever got.
I did not hear anything from them for over 5 days.

I called, was told that they were just processing my paperwork, was not given an estimated delivery date, and was told that if they delivered after the 7 agreed upon days they would pay me back 20.00 for each day late.  But I was reassured, that hardly ever happens.
After that I left messages nearly daily, they were never returned, by email or by phone.
When actually answering the phone, they continually promised unspecified ASAP delivery, but when asked for exact details, they would say they would check and call back.  No one ever called back.  I called nearly every day for the past two weeks, leaving multiple phone and voice messages on multiple lines and to multiple addresses.
When I called on the 25th, over two weeks after initial pickup date, they said my stuff was being loaded on a truck as we spoke (already over a week later than promised for delivery).  Note, they did not call me.  I called them. They gave me a phone number supposedly for the driver, and told me to call him myself for an estimated delivery date.  The number was not correct.
When my nephew called back for me to tell them that the person at the driver’s number did not have my stuff, they argued with him and told him I had the right number.
I called back and read the number to them and told them again it was incorrect, they said they would check and call back.  They did not call back.
We looked up the President of the company online (because requests for supervisors at the office went nowhere) and called him with a detailed complaint..twice.  He called back and left a message with the driver’s new number, without identifying himself or apologizing for anything.
Texts and calls to driver got an estimated delivery of 3-5 days (it is a 12 hour dirve).
We called Pres. Gil Dorfman again the next day detailing the fact that I had filed a BBB complaint and was filing a complaint here, and he called back immediately, made excuses, did not admit any wrong doing or mistakes in customer service or any other area, and promised to call the driver, recalculate my fees and call me back.

He did call back (first time in three weeks!!) and promised the stuff would be delivered in 1 or 2 days.  He also said he would call the next day with an update and my new amount due.
 He did not call.
He gave no new bill.
I called driver, was told the stuff should be here the next day ( today, 3 weeks after it should have been in a truck on the way here).
I called Pres. Dorfamn again, twice, saying he had never given me the new price, and so I would calculate it myself based on the only thing I had been told, which is that they would discount the move by $20 for every BUSINESS day over 7 days that the delivery was late.  Since they conduct business on Saturdays, I counted 11 business days, for a $220 discount off of the over 2500 total bill.
Pres. Dorfman called back and argued over the two included Saturdays, I told him his customer service was laughable and if he really though that the inconvenience was accounted for by 180, I would do that. We “agreed” on the final price, and I got the cashiers check required to pay in that amount, since only cash or cashier’s checks are accepted for the final payment upon delivery.
While on the phone with P. Dorfman, I got a call from the driver saying he was broken down and may not make it today, he would let me know.  Dorfman said he would check on it and get back to me.
4 hours later neither man had called.
I called the driver, and was told there is an unspecified problem and he would not make it today. When I asked for specifics I got none.  I called and left another message for Dorfman.
He has not called back.
That is the up to now complaint.  Three weeks after a 12 hour move was supposed to begin.

Horrible experience.

Do not use this company or you will be sorry!! I have never had a worse experience in my life. The quote more than doubled, instead of 2400 it was 5000!! They didn't even get everything on the truck, I had to get a storage unit for 2 months and had to pay them again to get the rest. All the boxes looked like went through a hurricane. They broke about 20 things, including my grandmothers china. I will never get over that!! Also had missing things. They charged about 1000 just for extra packaging that I was not told about. I was stuck with them because I only had 2 days to move , I did not know what to do. So I filed my claim. It took 3 months for them to tell me I get nothing because I signed that I recieved evrything in good condition. How do I know everything was in good condition until I unpacked!! Whitch they ask for original documents so you cannot look yo see what you signed!! This company is a joke and a scam. They do not deserve to be in business!!

From our pickup in Park City: -The driver of the truck could not pull into our complex, this is not our fault and somehow I got charged for distance even though I have seen countless other full length semi trailers inside of our complex. -My wife asked the driver to shrink wrap the mattress to protect it, and was verbally abused by him because he said nobody requested it and he didn't have any.  This despite that fact that the Order for Services clearly said that tape and shrink wrap would be provided for free.  -The helpless people who showed up repeatedly placed our TV (inside a box) upside down, even when instructed multiple times how to place it and to not put it upside down. -They also complained multiple times about the fact that there was no elevator, even though I told you, your dispatcher, and the driver repeatedly there was only stairs we had 3 flights that had to be navigated From the transit: -I called Saturday 6/28 to ask for status - “dispatch” didn’t have any idea who was driving or where our things were.  Said he would get information and text it to me.  Never heard back. -I called Monday 6/30 to ask - “dispatch” was yelling at someone else in a foreign language, was rude and said he would text me driver’s number - he finally did after 5 hours. -In the meantime, I called main line for NW Relocation 6 times, finally got a woman who said that I never filled out or signed documentation after pickup in PC (never even saw or heard this) and my things would not be delivered until that was resolved.   -She transferred me to someone who was supposed to send these forms to me for signing.  Left a message. -FINALLY got a text for a supposed driver, within 2 days of arriving in CA.  No clue on when I will get a date and/or time. -Paperwork was a complete debacle - my wife was not given any paperwork by the driver upon arrival for pickup, and then threatened that our things would not be delivered unless our paperwork was on file.  I had to call 3 people at NW Relocation to get paperwork FROM them, and even then the math was wrong and there were items in the paperwork that were never mentioned and/or not accurate according to the Order for Service contract that was e-signed.  Upon delivery, no surprise..the mattress was soaked and had a water stain on it.  8-10 other frames, glasses, lamps were also broken.  .

Local move within Oregon

Buyer Beware.

Would not EVER recommend this mover.  Unlike so many of the reviews, ours was an instate move from Salem OR to Oregon City OR.  My husband explained very early in the price negotiation process that we were looking for a mover that would pack AND move us for medical reasons on July 30th, and he reiterated this throughout the 2 months when he periodically spoke with Ryan Alexander.  We were encouraged how in the beginning Ryan did a great job of keeping us in the loop - however this changed the closer to our move date we became, until the last few weeks when we heard nothing.  On the day before the move (July 29th), we called to confirm the details when they hadn’t called as they said they would, and when Sam the dispatcher called back he asked about delaying the move to two days later (July 31st).  We explained to Sam that it was a full pack and move, which he did not know about.  We also explained that our utilities were scheduled to be turned off at the old house so delaying the move was not an option.  He explained that the full pack and move would cost more than the $1100 estimate.  He wanted to call back later that same day after he’d worked us into the schedule.  He called back later that afternoon to tell us that we were scheduled between 1:30-3:30pm the next day.  We reiterated that it was a full pack and move and he stated that he understood.  We also told him that we had packed about half of the contents ourselves.

The next day, we received a call from Sam past the scheduled time, saying that they would be late and would be there between 3:30 and 4pm.  At 4pm Sam called and said that they were finally done with the previous job and would arrive by 5pm.  When the team arrived closer to 5:30, Jesse the supervisor on the job was surprised to find out that it was a full pack and move.  He contacted the home office and gave us an estimate of $1500 to $2000 and said they would require payment in cash.  My husband quickly drove to the bank to get the cash before they closed.  As the workers began packing, Jesse explained that we were lucky because a full pack and move can cost upwards of $4000 but that he was discounting several items – specifically the boxes used.  During the packing process, it was explained that they would not pack ANYTHING liquid (vegetable oil, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc.) nor anything combustible (not only gas for our lawn mower, but even light bulbs).  These things had not been explained to us at all.

They initially said that all would fit in the truck.  So we tried using up all of the gas in the lawnmower by mowing both the back and front yards while they worked into the evening and we finally taped the lawnmower handle open to burn up the rest of the fuel.  After about 30 minutes of it running, Jesse told us to turn off the lawnmower – we assumed because enough of it was used up.  However we then learned that it was because they knew they weren’t going to have enough room for everything, including the mower.  We found out that there were items from another move on the truck when they arrived, which made less room available for our belongings.  After taking all evening packing our items we finally arrived in Oregon City at 1am, waking our new neighbors while they quickly moved items into the home.  They had explained that they would only be putting up our bed, but as exhausted as we were, we did not balk.  The next day, we spent another $83 to rent a U-Haul truck to go pick up the items we could lift ourselves into the truck, leaving behind 3 whiskey barrels of strawberry plants we’d hope to grow at our new home.

What started as an $1100 job ended up costing over $1600 with the additional money we gave to the U-Haul company.  We do not fault the Jesse and the workers for the majority of what went wrong during our move.  We hold the management – specifically Ryan Alexander and Sam responsible for not communicating many of the details – most importantly the details about ours being a PACK and MOVE project.  We’d hoped many of the troubles mentioned in many websites we would not experience because it was an intra-state move – but this was not the case.

Long-distance move from Oregon to Arizona

Terrible Service.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WASTE OF MONEY, WASTE OF TIME TERRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT HIRE THEM- THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR BELONGINGS AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO YOU AT ALL DURING YOUR MOVE Despite a late delivery, I was told there was no way my belongings could be delivered at a time I was available. Instead, I was informed that I would be charged an additional $550 for every day my belongings had to be placed in storage until the next delivery truck headed my way-- date unknown. Could be a day, could be a month. NO costumer service. They do NOT answer your calls, return your messages or emails.   YOU ARE BETTER OFF WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

Long-distance move from Washington to Tennessee

Horrible Experience.

Northwest Relocation (set up through Vanguard Relocation Services) picked up my household goods from WA to be delivered to TN.  My household goods were delivered minus two (2) boxes.  The following day I notified the moving truck driver, via text message on his cell phone, that two (2) of my boxes were missing.  I hoped that if they were still on the truck he would put them aside.  One of the boxes contained jewelry and the other name brand clothing.  I also notified my contact at Vanguard, who I set up my move through, of the missing boxes.  I was told they would try to locate the boxes and to file a claim.  A few days later, I was informed one (1) of my boxes was found.  Upon delivery of what they thought was one of my boxes I discovered that it was not one of my missing boxes but, instead a box of dirty towels! On several occasions I notified the moving company representative that the box was not mine and asked how he would like me to return the box.  To date, the moving company has not responded. On numerous occasions and to no avail I have tried to contact them on the status of locating my boxes and returning the box that does not belong to me. The moving company’s lack of effort/communication regarding the return of the box that is not mine, confirms their complete unprofessionalism in the attempt to locate my two missing boxes and general business practices.  The representatives no longer respond to my emails regarding what steps they have taken or are taking to locate my two boxes.   As referenced earlier the two boxes that were not delivered contained jewelry and expensive clothing.  Vanguard states on their website that they are committed to top level customer satisfaction. They clearly have not tried to meet a minimum standard of customer satisfaction. .
